New AC Milan owners look to put Rossoneri back on top of the league

Over the last few years, a number of European football clubs have been purchased by Chinese investors. The most recent, and arguably the most high-profile acquisition, was the purchase of seven-time European Cup winners AC Milan by Rossoneri Sport Investment Luxembourg.
CGTN’s Dan Williams was given rare behind-the-scenes access to the club, and spoke to key players about the future.
A step into AC Milan's museum is a journey into a rich history of football success and achievement. Eighteen Italian Series A league titles and seven European Cup victories underline the club's pedigree.
But following years of decline, the owner and former Italian Prime Minister, Silvio Berlusconi, sold the club to Chinese consortium Rossoneri Sport Investment Lux for 788 million US dollars.

It has been a difficult period for AC Milan. Having dominated world football, the club has struggled in recent years. But with new owners in place, there is now renewed hope of a return to the top.
The takeover also offers a new twist to the Milan derby, with local rivals Inter Milan having also been bought by Chinese investors last year. This is a club with an astonishing history, but it's the future that is the focus now.
