The US government is sanctioning Venezuelan Vice President Tareck El Aissami for allegedly playing a significant role in narcotics trafficking. The US Treasury Department accused El Aissami of facilitating, protecting and overseeing large shipments of drugs to Mexico and the United States while serving as Venezuela's interior minister and governor of Aragua state.
