Fu Ying, Chairperson of China’s Foreign Affairs Committee of the National People’s Congress, attended a sub-forum on East-Asian security and the Korean Peninsula issue on Saturday, during the 53rd Munich Security Conference in Munich, Germany.
Fu stressed that no country or region should be excluded from the process of security building. She noted that the Asia-Pacific region has been relatively peaceful since the Cold War and it's because most countries in the region choose to resolve their differences through negotiations and cooperation, rather than forming alliances.
Fu urged Asia-Pacific nations to continue with this practice and sustain hard-won peace.
The forum was hosted by Australia’s former Prime Minister Kevin Rudd. South Korean Foreign Minister Yun Byung-se, Singapore's Defense Minister Huang Yonghong, US Senator Dan Sullivan, and officials from The Preparatory Commission for the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty Organization also attended the forum.
Topics discussed included Asia-Pacific security, the Korean Peninsula issue, China’s global role and Sino-US relations.
