British members of parliament approved the European Union Withdrawal Bill on Wednesday, paving the way for transferring European law into UK law.

The House of Commons approved the third reading of the key Brexit bill, which will now be considered by the UK House of Lords. Brexit Secretary David Davis said the government would present a number of amendments to the bill. The Brexit Withdrawal Bill will repeal the 1972 European Communities Act, which originally took Britain into what was then called the EEC, back in 1973. The bill, if eventually given royal assent by Queen Elizabeth, will also end the power of the European Court of Justice in Britain.
