There was a touching moment on Sunday before Canadian team the Edmonton Oilers' home game against the Anaheim Ducks in the NHL playoffs. Local artist Brett Kissel was supposed to sing the American national anthem in honor of the Californian visitors when his microphone died.
Rather than boo the US anthem, the fans at Rogers Place did the complete opposite as they sang the entire song from start to finish without the help of any words being shown on the screen or handed out beforehand.

As an Oilers’ supporter later put it on a fan website, “That wasn’t a planned thing, but that was just some high-quality improv by the Edmonton faithful and a proud moment for the city.”
Edmonton, however, would go on to lose the game 6-3. The Oilers now lead 2-1 in the best-of-seven series of the Western Conference second round.
