Chinese Basketball Association: Guangdong 126 - Shenzhen 111
[]
We begin with the Chinese Basketball Association and the Guangdong Derby, in which the Shenzhen Leopards hosted the Guangdong Southern Tigers. The visitors beat Shenzhen in their first game of the season, and with the help of Andrew Nicholson and Yi Jianlian, would look to do it again and end the Leopards' six game winning streak.
Shenzhen find themselves behind early, until Jared Sullinger dishes to Meng Duo, who ties it at 7.  But Nicholson is given a free pass to the rim to put Guangdong up 18-15.
Sullinger keeps it close as he steps back for the jumper over Yi.  But then Nicholson fakes out Sullinger and finishes with a big one hander, and we're still in the first quarter.
Early in the second, the Canadian shows his range as he knocks down the three. Southern Tigers lead by 8.  But the Leopards soon close the gap and when Sullinger gets this basket while being fouled, the hosts are down one.
Shenzhen take the lead through their other foreigner, Keith Langford, who makes the tough lay-up.  Now tied at 69 in the third quarter, Hu Mingxuan finds Zhou Peng for the corner three to give the visitors the lead.
Zhou then drives in but kicks it out to Nicholson, who buries the trey as Guangdong start to pull away.  And when Yang Jinmeng hits from the land beyond, it's 103-87 Southern Tigers.  Here's a final irrelevant highlight from the Leopards' Qiu Biao, which makes no difference as Guangdong go on to win 126-111 thanks to Nicholson's 40 point performance.
In other action, Guangzhou beat Shanghai in overtime behind 45 points from Semaj Christon, Qingdao topped Tianjin with Jonathan Gibson scoring 60 for the second time in three games. Shanxi upset Shandong, who were missing Ding Yanyuhang due to a knee injury. Liaoning hung a 12th straight loss on Sichuan, and Jiangsu edged Beijing.
Here's how the standings look. Guangsha share top spot with Jiangsu, both with records of 16-4, Liaoning one game back in third, followed by Shandong, Guangdong, and Shenzhen, all with 14 wins.
