Syria Conflict: Restoration work for destroyed relics, buildings underway
[]
The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights says the crisis in Syria has killed at least 3,000 people including 955 civilians in September, making it the deadliest month this year.

Hundreds of thousands of people have been killed and millions displaced ever since a civil war erupted in 2011 and the Islamic State militant group ruled over swathes of land. But as the government wrests back control from ISIL, restoration work for the country's major artefacts are underway. Work on the Palmyra Stone Lion statues is now complete and they are now in the Syrian National Museum. The statues were destroyed during the period of ISIL occupation. Other cultural relics and ancient buildings destroyed in the war are expected to be restored with the effort of UNESCO and Syrian archaeologists.
