BRICS Sherpa meeting is a vehicle to coordinate and promote cooperation, and to make political preparations for this September's BRICS Summit. Negotiators from Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa have gathered in the Chinese city of Nanjing to discuss preparations for this year's BRICS summit in Xiamen. Organizers hope the meeting can help chart the course for BRICS cooperation, and ensure a good start for China's chairmanship.
South Africa’s Sous Sherpa and deputy director general of International Relations and Cooperation Department, Anil Sooklal said, the main topic is to strengthen the economic growth when economies are experiencing sluggishness, and the BRICS countries should take the responsibility to fill the vacuum of global leadership when other countries failed to do so.
