Made in China 2025: Chinese industrial development in 2017

China says it hit several milestones last year in its development of industries and technology. Officials have now drawn up plans focusing on the country's Made in China 2025 goals. Take a look.
The year 2017 saw several major breakthroughs in the Chinese industrial sector. China's first commercial airliner, the C919, took to the skies for the first time. The same goes for China's new amphibious aircraft, the AG600. Several choke points in the areas of nuclear power and machine tools have also been addressed. Growth accelerated for the first time since 2010.
MIAO WEI INDUSTRY & INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY MINISTER "China has made breakthroughs in integrated circuits, aviation, gas turbines, renewable energy cars, and so on. The scale, security, productivity and international influence of industry have been boosted."
The year's growth leaders were electronics, which expanded by 13.8 percent, and equipment manufacturing, which rose 10.7 percent.
The rise in productivity was accompanied by better efficiency. In 2017, China's industrial capacity utilization reached 77 percent, a five-year high. Energy usage dipped by 4.3 percent, and water consumption was down 6 percent.
The Ministry is laying out plans for 2018 that are in line with the goals in the Made in China 2025 plan. The government wants new demonstration zones and industrial clusters built, as markets require.

Minister Miao stresses that the plan welcomes all players who wish to take part.
