The UN deputy Syria envoy, Ramzi Ezzeldin Ramzi, says the Syrian government will attend UN-sponsored peace talks in Vienna next week. Ramzi told reporters in Damascus he'd been informed by Syria's deputy foreign minister. The United Nations has invited the Syrian government and opposition to the special meeting in Vienna. The Vienna talks will precede Russian-backed talks in Sochi on January 29th to 30th. Both meetings will tackle the issue of a new constitution. The coincidence has observers believing that the Vienna talks were designed to affect the Sochi talks.
