Typhoon Talim has made landfall on Japan's southern Kyushu island, bringing gales and heavy rains. The 18th typhoon of the Pacific season, Talim has caused the cancellation of over 600 flights and train services on Kyushu.
Japan's Meteorological Agency has issued its strongest warning for heavy rain in the coastal areas of southwestern Japan. Local authorities on the island have ordered residents to evacuate. Talim is now moving northeast, and could bring strong winds to the Tokyo area by Sunday evening.
