Over the past decade, more and more Chinese designers, especially female ones such as Masha Ma, Guo Pei and Taoray Wang, have earned their stripes in the major fashion weeks in London, New York, Paris, and Milan.
Masha Ma's show on Sunday at the Palais de Tokyo in Paris was a look backward at her Central Saint Martins days in London, her native China's burgeoning underground music scene, and a dose of Berlin nightclub -mixed with a very contemporary approach to the strict tailoring she learned working with Alexander McQueen.
Masha Ma isn't the first Chinese female fashion designer to showcase her work at the major fashion weeks.
In January 2016, Chinese designer Guo Pei's "the Emperor's courtyard" dazzled the Paris Haute Couture Week with her exquisite and majestic creations.

While Guo Pei's designs and traditional Chinese craftsmanship are increasingly gaining attention overseas, a new generation of young fashion designers are also making waves in New York and Paris...with designs that have an international appeal.
At the ongoing New York Fashion Week, Chinese fashion designer Taoray Wang is showing off her unique collection.
Taoray Wang's designs have been highly praised by the fashion industry, and worn by people such as US President Donald Trump's daughter – Tiffany Trump.
That's what has to happen if Chinese fashion designers want to go from being "the next big thing" to having a long-term impact on the world fashion scene.
