UN chief Guterres highlights common goals of UN and Belt and Road

UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres highlighted infrastructure projects -- part of China's Belt and Road Initiative, as "very important instruments" to help developing states, ahead a major Belt and Road summit in Beijing on May 14-15.
Speaking to Chinese media in New York earlier this week, Guterres said the objectives of the UN's 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development were the same as the Belt and Road initiative and he looked forward to seeing how to best combine the two projects.
