The death toll from an explosion at a power plant in northern India has risen to 26. Over 100 were injured in Wednesday's blast, and officials say the toll may rise, in one of the country's deadliest industrial accidents. The 1,550-megawatt power plant in Uttar Pradesh, which supplies electricity to nine neighbouring states, has been shut down. But its owner the National Thermal Power Corporation said other facilities would make up the shortfall and outages were unlikely. The company has launched an inquiry into what caused the disaster.
