Oil Tanker Collision: Clean-up work has begun in the East China Sea

Clean-up teams are monitoring oil slicks in the East China Sea, where the Sanchi oil tanker sank on Sunday, to assess the wreck's ecological impact. According to the Chinese government, two oil slicks that leaked from the ship currently cover a combined area of 42 square miles. Maritime police are scouring the area for damage.
The State Oceanic Administration says many water samples taken from the area contain black grease and have a heavy, oily smell. The concentration of petroleum reportedly exceeds some standard limits for seawater.
