Over to the links, and the opening round of the Pebble Beach Pro-am. The tournament taking place on three of the most notable courses in Southern California, Pebble Beach, Spyglass Hill, and Monterey Peninsula. China's Dou Zecheng, a rookie on the PGA Tour, would open up the tournament at Pebble, and would take kindly to the surroundings, as he rocketed up the leaderboard.
The 21-year-old would have a stellar day, this is his birdie attempt on 17, and cans it to get to minus-6. The first-ever Chinese golfer to earn his way onto the PGA tour, would drop a stroke and finishes at minus-5. Two shots off the pace.
He is trying to catch Kevin Streelman and Beau Hossler, then there is a log jam at minus-6. Dou tied with world number one Dustin Johnson and others for sixth. Rory McIlroy and Phil Mickelson among those in the hunt. Defending champion Jordan Spieth is 7-back.
