Renewable Energy Vehicles: New license plates to be issued for clean cars
[]
China will start rolling out special license plates for vehicles running on renewable energy starting Monday. A dozen cities will join five pilot regions in using these special tags. The program was first tested in Shanghai, Nanjing, Wuxi, Jinan, and Shenzhen. The new plates use green as the base color as opposed to the normal blue on other vehicles. The plates will also have specialized markings, and will make use of anti-counterfeiting technology. The special license plates are expected to be issued in all provincial capitals and part of prefecture-level cities by the end of 2017. The rest of the nation will follow suit in the first half of 2018.
