Two fishermen from the Chinese mainland were injured when a Taiwanese patrol ship fired warning shots at their boat on Saturday morning, local media reported.
The patrol ship demanded to check the fishing vessel, Nanao 31049, as it approached the island of Huayu near the Penghu Islands in the Taiwan Straits at around 5:30 a.m. local time. The patrol ship fired rubber bullets to stop the boat after it failed to slow for the check, according to the reports.
The two crew members were injured in the leg and ankle respectively and they were sent to the hospital immediately.
