Omar Abdel-Rahman, the man who was serving a life sentence for plotting the 1993 World Trade Center bombing in New York, has died. According to a prison spokesman, the 78-year-old Egyptian-born radical cleric died from natural causes in the federal correctional complex in Butner, North Carolina. Abdel-Rahman was regarded as one of the most influential and fearsome theologians of the Islamist fundamentalism that swept the Middle East.
