The Chinese government has reiterated that Beijing's stance on the issue of Catalonia has not changed.

 

Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lu Kang made the remarks during a regular press conference, saying that China understands and supports the efforts made by the Spanish government to uphold national unity, ethnic solidarity and territorial integrity. Lu added that Beijing believes Madrid is capable of safeguarding the social order and civil rights in accordance with the law. The spokesperson also stressed that China and Spain will continue carrying out cooperation under the principle of respecting each other's sovereignty and territorial integrity as the two sides share friendly ties.
