Our reporter Wang Hui asked Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokesman Lu Kang for his response to the resumption of dialogue. Let's take a listen.
WANG HUI CGTN REPORTER "I'm from CGTN. My question is with regard to the nuclear issue on the Korean Peninsula. We understand a high-level dialogue between South Korea and the DPRK has been held in the truce village of Panmunjom. After the conclusion of the first round of talks in the morning, the South Korean delegation said a good beginning is half way to success. What's your opinion?"
LU KANG CHINESE FOREIGN MINISTRY SPOKESPERSON "We are happy to see that high-level talks between the DPRK and South Korea can take place. We have said many times, as a neighbor of the Korean Peninsula, we welcome and support all positive steps that will quickly allow an easing of tensions. We also hope that these talks can allow an improvement in their relations, push forward reconciliation and cooperation, and create a good start to ease the tense situation on the peninsula. We hope the international community can enthusiastically encourage this and provide ample support and understanding."
