Kinshasa Floods: 45 killed, likely to worsen cholera outbreak

Landslides and flooding have killed 45 people and left thousands homeless in Kinshasa, the capital of the Democratic Republic of Congo.
Heavy rains began on Wednesday last week and continued through to Sunday. They swept through homes, knocked down walls and caused landslides through many parts of the city. A neighbourhood near central capital is in ruins after days of flooding. The World Health Organization has warned flooding is also likely to exacerbate an ongoing cholera outbreak and the spread of other water-borne diseases.
