Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi called for a peaceful resolution to rising tensions on the Korean Peninsula during a meeting with UK Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson on Friday.
Wang met with Johnson on the sidelines of a ministerial meeting on the Korean Peninsula nuclear issue held by the UN Security Council on Friday.
The two sides warned that the Korean Peninsula is facing a risk of escalating tensions that may even get out of control, noting that it was necessary for the UN Security Council to hold the meeting.
China urged all parties to adhere to the goal of a denuclearized Korean Peninsula, strictly carry out the UN Security Council resolutions concerning the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK), and stop the DPRK’s nuclear missile development.
All relevant parties should solve the Korean Peninsula issue through dialogue and negotiation, and seek a peaceful solution to the Korean Peninsula issue, said Wang.
