Two Chinese fighter jets have intercepted a US military aircraft designed to detect radiation over the East China Sea. 

A US Air Force spokesperson said the aircraft was carrying out a routine mission over international airspace, and was operating in accordance with international law. The Chinese Foreign Ministry has requested the US respect China's "reasonable security concerns" and warned that surveillance can easily cause misunderstandings.
