Tesla shares jumped nearly 3 percent on Thursday after Chief Executive Elon Musk tweeted that the company would be unveiling an electric commercial truck in September.
Musk also said Tesla would be releasing the Model 3 sedan in July and a pickup truck in 18 to 24 months, and he mentioned that the next-generation Roadster would be a convertible.
Tesla shares have surged 41 percent to a record high this year. The Silicon Valley company this week briefly became the largest US car maker by market capitalization, beating out General Motors.
