Inflation was on the rise again in China. Fresh data from the National Bureau of Statistics shows the Consumer Price Index rose 1.8 percent in December, slightly below market consensus of a 1.9 percent gain. But the number was up again after a 1.7 percent rise in November. Food prices declined by 0.4 percent, while the cost of non-food continued to increase. China's producer price index rose 4.9 percent in December from a year earlier. That's the lowest level since November 2016. Full-year data shows the PPI rose 6.3 percent and the CPI gained 1.6 percent in 2017.
