We begin here in Beijing, where Chinese President Xi Jinping has spoken by phone with his US counterpart Donald Trump. The two leaders discussed the recent easing of tensions on the Korean Peninsula.
Xi Jinping called for all parties to maintain this momentum and to work to create conditions for the resumption of talks. He said the removal of nuclear weapons from the area is in the interests of all parties. And he said China would continue to work with the US and other members of the international community toward the denuclearization of the peninsula. The two presidents agreed to strengthen communication on the issue.
They also discussed enhancing high-level exchanges and cooperation on the economy and trade, to improve bilateral ties.
