The "One Country, Two Systems" policy in Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) has been a success and continues to benefit both sides, US Consul General to Hong Kong and Macao Kurt Tong said on Tuesday.
"The unique form of governance that is exercised in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region has been largely successful," said Tong.

"China, the United States and other nations, but most importantly the people of Hong Kong themselves, continue to benefit from the unique 'One Country, Two Systems' framework that allows Hong Kong to be special and different while still being part of China," said Tong, adding that the people of Hong Kong are "prosperous and safe."
July 1 marks the 20th anniversary of the establishment of the HKSAR. Enacted in accordance with China's Constitution, the Basic Law of the HKSAR specifies the guidelines of "One Country, Two Systems" and "Hong Kong people administering Hong Kong" with a high degree of autonomy.
