Kurdish authorities in Syria's Afrin region have called on the government to stop Turkey's attack. They're turning for help to the very government from which they have sought autonomy.
Afrin authorities said in a statement that the Syrian state should carry out its sovereign obligations and deploy armed forces to secure the borders with Turkey. There has been no public response from the government. Dozens have died since Ankara launched a military campaign against Afrin's Kurdish YPG rebels about a week ago.
