US President Donald Trump tweeted about the upcoming meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping on Thursday, highlighting his concerns over economic ties.
"The meeting next week with China will be a very difficult one in that we can no longer have massive trade deficits... and job losses," Trump tweeted, "American companies must be prepared to look at other alternatives.”

Trump’s tweets came just hours after the two countries formally announced the meeting of the two leaders. According to a statement by the White House, the presidents of the world's top two economies will discuss global, regional and bilateral issues of mutual concern.
Spokesperson for China's Ministry of Foreign Affairs Lu Kang said on Thursday “China hopes to make joint efforts with the United States to expand trade cooperation, properly settle trade frictions through dialogues, and maintain healthy and stable growth of trade and economic ties.”
Xi will meet Trump at Mar-a-Lago, in Florida on April 6-7. This will be the first meeting between the two leaders since Trump assumed office in January.
