DANIAL KHAN HYDERABAD, PAKISTAN Following US President Donald Trump's accusations, over the past weeks, the relations between the two countries are once again witnessing a strain.
There have been a series of severe responses from the Pakistani leadership.
Responding to Trump's latest tweet, Pakistan's foreign minister said Islamabad will not do more after US president called it a liar. He said Pakistan will respond to President Trump's tweet and will let the world know the truth.
The timing of Trump's tweet — at 4 in the morning — has caused speculation, with some observers linking it to reports of a further escalation in India-Pakistan tensions.
Reportedly, following this development, the US ambassador in Pakistan was also summoned to the Foreign Office and a strong protest over Mr Trump's remarks was lodged with him.
Interestingly, President Trump's accusations come only a few days after Pakistan army's spokesman had said that Pakistan had done enough and it was time for the United States and Afghanistan to do more.
This statement from the Pakistan army is the strongest-ever reaction from Islamabad since Washington suggested a possibility of a unilateral action against Pakistan.
Meanwhile, Pakistan foreign minister has said that Pakistan will defend its sovereignty, if US tries to carry out any unilateral operation on its soil. Danial Khan, CGTN, Hyderabad.
