China's Ministry of Defense has just held a press conference following the conclusion of the 19th CPC National Congress.

 

Spokeperson Ren Guoqiang said the entire armed forces listened closely to the decisions of the Congress, with particular focus on General Secretary Xi Jinping's words that the CPC will strive to transform China's armed forces into a world-class military by the mid-21st century. Answering questions from the assembled media, Ren noted that the militaries of China and the US have maintained a good relationship, with notable achievements in the fields of high-level visits and dialogue mechanism. He added that China hopes its close military ties with the US can inject positive energy into bilateral relations between the two countries as a whole. Ren also spoke favorably of the progression of military ties between China and Russia in 2017.
