The row between Turkey and the Netherlands over the latter’s cancellation of Turkish political rallies on its soil risks fracturing bilateral relations that were previously very strong. Trade between the two countries has tripled in 10 years, amounting to over six billion US dollars in 2015, and the Netherlands is one of Turkey's main investors. Over 2,500 Dutch companies operate in Turkey, there are nearly 23,000 Turkish entrepreneurs in the Netherlands, and more than 1.2 million Dutch tourists visited Turkey in 2015. Both countries are members of the Council of Europe and NATO.
