Chinese Vice Premier Wang Yang has started a four-day visit to the Philippines, where he will deliver a speech at the opening ceremony for the China-ASEAN tourism cooperation year. He is also due to meet with President Rodrigo Duterte on Friday and hold talks with the economic leadership team.
Relations between China and the Philippines have had their ups and downs, but they have improved since President Duterte took office last summer, especially on the economy and tourism.
Wang will then deliver a keynote address to a China-Philippines economic and trade forum on Saturday.
