Protests in Tunisia: Violent protests resume in Tunisia after two days of calm

In Tunisia, violent protests erupted again across the capital and in other towns.
After two days of relative calm, Tunisians rallied against austerity measures, demanding an end to punishing price hikes. Police arrested 41 more people - bringing the total number of detainees to around 850. To calm the anger, authorities announced plans this weekend to boost aid to the needy. The government said it would allocate nearly 40 million US dollars to help the poorest families plus provide free health care for the unemployed.
