We begin in the Swiss city of Lausanne, where ROK and DPRK delegates have met with officials from the International Olympic Committee to hash out details of Pyongyang's participation. IOC President Thomas Bach has made a statement regarding that, saying it is a milestone for the Korean Peninsula.
THOMAS BACH PRESIDENT, INTERNATIONAL OLMYPIC COMMITTEE "Until today we met seperately with the parties on the bilateral basis to address the political situation in a comprehensive way. Today is, therefore a great day because the Olympic spirit has brought all sides together."
Bach said both countries will march together at the opening ceremony under a Korean unification flag. He also said 22 DPRK athletes will compete in five disciplines including ice hockey, figure skating and Alpine skiing. IOC officials, representatives from the Pyeongchang organizing committee, as well as delegates and officials from the DPRK and South Korea held a full day of meetings on Friday.
