China is doing its part to ensure countless people around the world don't go hungry. One of its latest contributions was carried out by the Kenya China Chamber of Commerce and the Chinese embassy in Kenya, which together donated food to the residents of the drought-hit Makueni County.
Kenya is one of the several East African countries affected by drought, which has led to failed crops, causing food shortages in Makueni county and many other places in Kenya. The UN has warned that more people will suffer from hunger without extra efforts by outside actors.
According to Yao Ming, counselor of Chinese Embassy in Kenya, the embassy is mobilizing the local Chinese community to make donations to the affected groups as the first small step. China is willing and ready to provide more help for Kenya in the coming weeks and months.
