Park Geun-hye apologizes to public before being questioned

‍South Korea's former president Park Geun-hye apologized to the public, vowing to undergo questioning "faithfully," upon her arrival at ‍the Seoul Central District Prosecutors’ Office at around 9:30 a.m. local time (0030 GMT) on Tuesday.

Prosecutors said they would question Park over allegations of bribery, abuse of power, coercion and leak of government secrets in 13 different cases that led to her removal from office, Yonhap news agency reported.
The former president will also be grilled as part of a probe into her involvement in scandals where conglomerates allegedly gave huge political donations for business favors to two foundations controlled by Choi Soon-sil, Park’s confidante who is now in jail.
Park left her private residence in Samseong-dong in southern Seoul at 9:17 a.m. local time (0017 GMT). Security in the area have been beefed up with hundreds of her supporters outside her home waving banners.

South Korea's constitutional court upheld an impeachment motion against Park Geun-hye on March 10, permanently removing her from office. A presidential election will be held within a 60-day period, following Park's formal impeachment, according to the country's constitution.
