Australian scientists work to improve coral growth

Marine scientists in Australia have upped the ante in their fight to save the Great Barrier Reef from the devastating effects of coral bleaching. 
A team of researchers at the Sydney Institute of Marine Science is working to condition corals to withstand ocean acidification and temperature spikes. 
They are testing to see if these manipulated corals can pass survival traits on to future generations. 
Coral reefs cover less than two percent of the ocean floor, but support a quarter of all marine life.
