The first ever Comedy Pet Photography Awards was launched in the UK on May 25, attracting animal lovers from over 66 countries to show off hilarious “petscapades” caught on camera. /VCG Photo
The pictures capture funny, touching snaps: a collie gets scared by a bubble, a cat takes a selfie and a pony rolls around rocking its mullet. /VCG Photo
Partnered with Animal Welfare Foundation, wildlife photographer Paul Joynson-Hicks and African landscape photographer Tom Sullam created the competition to raise people’s awareness of animal welfare. /VCG Photo
Images of any pets wearing clothes, or using props not a natural part of their lives, were refused. /VCG Photo
Awards will be split into five categories: open category, junior photographer (15 and under), the ancients (70 and over), pets who look like their owners, and “Gone to the Dogs” – an award dedicated to man’s best friend. /VCG Photo
