Internet Regulation: Real name registration now a legal requirement
[]
Starting October, Chinese internet users have to register their real names before they can post comments online. The cyberspace regulator says the new rule is due to the online dissemination of rumours, illegal information and use of foul language.

Internet and tech companies now have to verify the identities of all registered users. However, users do not have to reveal their real names on the platforms. In 2015, the Cyberspace Administration of China required users on certain online platforms to register with their real names, but that regulation had not been strictly enforced until now.
