33 people have been confirmed injured, with two in serious condition, when a suspected gas explosion caused a building to collapse in the Wirral area of Merseyside near Liverpool in northwestern England.
Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service said it was called at 21:14 local time on Saturday to reports of a suspected gas explosion which destroyed a large dance studio and dozens of buildings, including a Chinese restaurant, within a zone of several hundred meters at New Ferry, a community on the banks of the River Mersey.
Due to what could be potential damage to a bridge, train services have been suspended in the New Ferry area.
The injured people have been taken to hospital after the blast. The area was cordoned off for security reasons and some houses were
evacuated.
