Wang Shouwen, China's vice commerce minister, was among the attendees at the first annual China-Australia Free Trade Agreement (FTA) Joint Council Meeting in Beijing on Tuesday. The meeting celebrated the December 20, 2015 signing of a free trade pact between China and Australia. ‍

Australian Trade Minister Andrew Robb commended the signing of the agreement. Deputy Trade Minister Justin Brown and other Australian officials also attended the meeting.
China is Australia’s largest trading partner, while Australia is China’s seventh largest trading partner. Two-way trade between the countries was valued at over 118.7 billion US dollars in 2015. Meanwhile, Australia accommodated 1.3 million Chinese visitors in 2016. That was an 18 percent increase from 2015.
