Chinese volleyball coach Lang Ping will serve as vice president of the Chinese Volleyball Association (CVA), reported Xinhua citing a senior official on Thursday.
"I am glad to confirm that Lang Ping will serve as CVA vice president. She has been a very famous volleyball player and coach and with her extraordinary experience and ability she is absolutely qualified for this position," said CVA Vice President Li Quanqiang.
On Wednesday, China Sports Daily also reported that Lang's appointment has been approved by authorities.
The 57-year-old former ace spiker became the first person to have won gold at the Olympics both as a player and as a coach when she guided the Chinese women's team to win the Rio Games in 2016.

Earlier in March, Lang renewed her contract with the volleyball association and was quickly named chief coach of Chinese national team.
Her new appointment came just months after the election of former NBA All-star player Yao Ming as the president of the Chinese Basketball Association (CBA) in February.
