US President Donald Trump has been taking a harsh stance over Mexico by vowing to build a wall along the border to keep out people who enter the US illegally, which has been the cornerstone of his immigration policy.
During the campaign, Trump said he wanted it to be an impenetrable, physical wall on the southern border. To fulfill the election pledge to start building on day one, he has signed an executive order setting it in motion and accepted that US taxpayers will have to cover the initial funding and recoup the costs from Mexico later. Mexico, for its part, insisted it won't pay.
Newly issued US immigration guidelines have also angered many Mexicans. According to the plan, almost all illegal immigrants will be caught quickly and sent back, most likely to Mexico if they entered from there, regardless of nationality.
