2015 Iran Nuclear Deal
[]
So what exactly is the Iran nuclear deal, the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action? The deal was struck between Iran and six world powers, namely the US, UK, Russia, France, China, and Germany, in 2015. It called for Iran to remove more than two-thirds of its 20,000 centrifuges. Its medium-enriched uranium stockpile was to be eliminated; its low-enriched uranium stockpile was to be reduced by 98 percent to 300 kilograms for 15 years. Tehran must also keep its level of enrichment under 3.67 percent. Nuclear energy for peaceful purposes is allowed. The UN nuclear watchdog, the IAEA, has complete access to monitor and verify. In exchange, major sanctions on Iran, including the oil embargo and financial restrictions, were to be lifted.
