Nearly 15,000 people have fled their homes near the Philippines' most active volcano, Mt. Mayon after lava was seen flowing down its crater in a gentle eruption. Scientists warn the volcanic activity could turn explosive, causing lava to flow downhill at 60 kilometres per hour. Local disaster officials have also issued warnings about possible volcanic mud flows. Classes have been suspended in parts of Albay province and some schools are being used as evacuation centres. Lava last flowed out of Mt. Mayon in 2014.
