Nobel Chemistry Prize: Dubochet, Frank and Henderson awarded prize for cryo-electron microscopy

Jacques Dubochet, Joachim Frank and Richard Henderson have been awarded the 2017 Nobel Chemistry Prize for developing cryo-electron microscopy, a simplified way to improve the imaging of biomolecules. Cryo-electron microscopy has enabled scientists to generate images of proteins that cause antibiotic resistance. Their discovery also gives researchers the ability to consistently produce three-dimensional biomolecule structures, and to visually represent previously unseen chemical processes. This year's chemistry award came with a 1-point-1 million dollar prize.
