Over to the ice and action from the Kontinental Hockey League. Kunlun Red Star seeking a much needed win when they hosted Ugra Khanty-Mansiysk in Shanghai. The Chinese-based squad are 15-points out of a playoff spot, but wanted to get a win against a team, that are more than ten points behind them in the standings.
No scoring in the opening two periods so we head to the third, and Kunlun can't clear the puck on this powerplay, and Ugra take advantage, as Maxim Pestushko finds Pavel Varfolomeyev who wrists it home.
That looked like the winner until the final minute. The home team pull the goalie for the extra attacker, and Taylor Beck finds Brandon Yip in front, and he ties it with 36 seconds left.
Then, just seconds into overtime, Gilbert Brule gets the drop pass, and finds Rinat Ibragimov, who fires home the winner -- 2-1 is how it ends, 17-ticks after the face-off. Kunlun remain 11th in the Eastern conference standings, where only the top eight teams make it.
