China on Thursday sent its condolences and an offer of help to Myanmar after a military aircraft crashed in the Andaman Sea with 122 soldiers, family members and crew on board.

"We express our deep sympathy to Myanmar over this accident, and profound condolences to the victims," said Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Hua Chunying. "China is ready to provide necessary assistance at Myanmar's request. The China National Aero-Technology Import and Export Corporation… is prepared to assist Myanmar authorities in the investigation,” added Hua.

Bodies and debris have been found in the water after contact was lost with the plane on Wednesday afternoon.
